Located in Cohen Place in Chinatown, Gurkhas is a an authentic and charming Nepalese restaurant. One of my favourites for Nepalese in Melbourne. Friendly staff await you at Gurkhas for a gastronomic journey through the Himalayas you are bound to enjoy.

In addition to the delectable traditional momos (or Nepalese dumplings) with veg or meat fillings, don’t miss the popular Choila or the Gurkhas signature Nepali goat curry on the bone.

Described as a modern and classic Nepalese restaurant, it has sumptuous banquet options, which allow diners to enjoy a range of Nepalese dishes on their visit. Kathmandu Banquet’s menu includes favourites like Choila, Chowmein, Curries, platters and a wide range of Momos. They also offer function and event hire options.

Chilli Everest is another favourite Nepalese spot for us. It is a little more of a fine dining Nepalese option located centrally. Open every day (as of September 2023, check official restaurant information to confirm opening hours), Chilli Everest is a beautiful venue offering some of the best Nepalese atmosphere and food you can imagine with so many classics like Momos, Thukpas, Thakali Kana, Newari Khaja and Sekuwa.

A must for someone looking for a tasty and memorable Nepalese meal in Melbourne City Centre.

Balti Curry House is a top restaurant offering quality traditional Indian and Nepalese cuisine. It is one of the best reviewed restaurants in this guide and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

While not an exclusively Nepalese restaurant, with its warm ambiance and staff dedication to quality, amazing feedback from diners and delicious Nepalese food options, Balti Curry House should be towards the top of your list when it comes to dining out or having a take away Nepalese meal.

Momo Central is an authentic chain of Nepalese restaurants located centrally in Melbourne. As the name suggests, Momo Central is known for its momos with a range of flavourful vegetarian and non vegetarian fillings to enjoy. But it does not stop there. Momo Central also offer a range of other delicious Nepalese dishes including Thukpa (soupy noodles), Chow Mein (stir fried noodles), lentil pancakes or the meaty Khaja set.

Momo Central offers a welcoming atmosphere to savour some top quality Nepalese cuisine. A must visit for foodies looking to enjoy the flavours of Nepal in Melbourne.

Camberwell Curry House is another combined Indian and Nepalese restaurant. And an awesome one at that!

This quant spot has a multitude of great reviews online. The reviews describe the deliciousness of their hearty meals, quality of staff and service offered as well as feedback of having some of the best Momos in Melbourne. There is a whole page of the menu dedicated to Nepalese dishes including Himilayan Chilli Chicken and Mushroom, Pani Puri, Chow Mein and a range of Momos.

 

Nirankar Restaurant

People have previously mentioned Nirankar as one of the top Nepalese / Indian restaurants in Melbourne. Unfortunately, from what I can see in 2023, Nirankar is reported as being closed sadly.
