Moomba Festival 2024 will once again be a special, fun filled event in the 2024 Melbourne social event calendar. Moomba is the biggest community festival in Australia and is suitable for all ages. Millions of people attend the festival every year.
Held every Labour day weekend in Melbourne, the festival has gone on for over 60 years! As a matter of fact, it is approaching the 70th birthday!
With heaps of shows, rides, entertainment activities, popular band performances and fun things to do, there is something to enjoy for the whole family. Many of the shows and events at Moomba are FREE. Entry is also free. Don’t miss the water sports exhibitions and especially the water skiing competition.
There is also a range of available food and drink options, with plentiful food trucks serving up everything from burgers and chips to gelato and fairy floss and so much in between as well. The fun filled annual festival is sure to light up Melbourne in March 2024. It is one of the last events to soak up the not yet so cold weather (ok, it’s Melbourne, bring a jacket).

When is Moomba 2024?
Moomba 2024 dates: Labour Day Weekend, March, 2024.
Details to be confirmed around exact start and end date but if it follows in the 2023 footsteps, it would go from the 7th to the 11th of March – **please confirm this on the official page as this is not confirmed yet, only our best guess!
Moomba Festival Location
Location: Alexandra Gardens and Birrarung Marr
Fireworks are on every evening and are best viewed at Birrarung Marr along the Yarra River. Don’t miss them.
There is also a Moomba parade generally which begins at the Shrine of Remembrance and then goes along St Kilda Road. Check the official website closer to the date for more details.
Getting to and from Moomba 2024
Given so many people converge to the festival, parking is generally going to be very difficult. In addition, many roads will be closed around the city as well.
We therefore recommend taking public transport and arriving to Flinders Train Station. Moomba is a short walk from there.

Entry: Free
Rides and activities will usually have a fee in 2024 like in other years.
